Why should you learn Web Development?
So online classes are back again and you have a lot of free time on your plate right now. The most efficient way to utilize all this extra time would be to acquire a tangible skill. You tried learning ML, but the math is too scary. You started with a bit of competitive coding but it just isn’t your piece of cake. Well, most of us have been there and trust me the best thing to learn now is Web Development :)
As of January 2021, 59.5% of the global population has internet access. This means internet users are increasing day by day and so is the demand for more online services. New Websites are inevitable and this is where Web Developers come into action! If this didn’t convince you yet, here are 5 reasons why you should try your hand at Web Dev:
1. Demand
○ According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics (USA), the position of “web developer” is expected to rise by 13% from 2018–2028, far faster than any average occupation. In the US, demand for software developer roles such as web developers, full-stack developers, and cloud engineers grew nearly 25% from April-October 2019 to April-October 2020, according to an analysis by LinkedIn.
2. Interfacing
○ If you know how to develop a front-end user interface page, then you can apply this knowledge in various domains like Robotics, AI, ML etc to provide a friendly interface for the user. This will also be useful for your college projects in later semesters.
3. Freelancing
○ Like working on your terms? Then freelancing is the thing for you. Being a freelance web developer has its perks and you can start freelancing as soon as you’ve finished any Bootcamp online. In general, an Indian freelance web developer could be earning anything from Rs 25,000 to Rs 2,50,000 (based on their skill) per month. You’d probably end up paying your fees by yourself if you play your cards right ;)
4. Work from Anywhere
○ You just need two things for Web Dev: a laptop and a decent internet connection. No wonder you see so many freelancers minting money while working from the cafeterias right down the street.
5. It’s an art✨
○ Not many people will agree with me when I say that Web Development is an art. The process of development gets those creative juices flowing and though at first glance it looks very technical, there is a lot of creativity and artistic liberty that can be put into web development. Being a 2nd-year student, I’d recommend all of my fellow batchmates and juniors to try their hand at Web Dev.
